Well, now you do. But why is it a problem exactly you ask? So many reasons, here are only a few:
1. It is a waste of resources: an area larger than China and 25% of the world’s fresh water supply are used to grow food that’s never even eaten.
2. It is quite selfish: the world’s nearly one billion hungry people could be fed on less than a quarter of the food that is wasted.
3. It is really bad for the planet: All the food that is being wasted ends up in landfills and emit gases like methane and CO2. If food waste were a country it would be the 3rd largest emitter of greenhouse gases (after China & the USA).
Charles likes rugby & our beautiful planet.
Which is probably why he wants to try to maintain what’s left of it.
His favorite food is everything (he couldn’t pick just 1, or even 2). #foodie
Also his sneakers (which you can't see here) are recycled so he gets a point.
He read all about the food waste issue and how if we eliminate food waste we can basically save the world.
And since he is smart, he figured that saving the world by eating good food was probably the best way to do it (can’t disagree here)…
Since eating all of the world’s food surplus wasn’t only a two men job we needed to find a way to hire as many eaters as possible.
And since we’re Millennials of course it had to be through an app, duh.
Here’s how it works:
When a restaurant or bakery has surplus food that will go to waste if not sold that day, they log in to the app and add their deal box.
Users get to buy deal boxes for a discounted price. Simple & heroic.
If you care about anything at all, just order your meals through Eat’s A Deal instead of your regular food ordering app. No shade to them but we’re way better. Like actually trying to save the world over here. But if you’d rather be an a**hole, you can too…
